Disco

„I have no choice – I wanna dance“ – When my gallery, nüüd, announced the topic Nuit 2.0, the war against Ukraine was still very young. Two different perspectives immediately came to mind.

Firstly, the horror nights that one experiences when one is in a war zone. Secondly, the pictures of my Tel Aviv Club time appeared before my inner eye, which were very formative and eventful for me.

I chose the latter theme and dove into my DJs‘ break beats sets of 2004 from that time. A small disco ball keychain served as inspiration.

The installation „I have no choice – I wanna dance“ is a combination of 10 photos from the series „South Side Beats“ (Tel Aviv, 2004) with a mini disco, reduced to a minimum (architectural and musical), one for one dive into the world of night for a brief moment, filled with dance, emotion and the „here and now“.
